Finger Millet Chocolate Chip Cookies (Nachni Chocolate Chip Cookies)

A couple days ago my daughter asked me what she could have for dessert. I had been planning on making some swirl cookies but had not made them yet. I needed a few ingredients for those cookies so I decided to make these instead.

Chocolate chip cookies are always a hit but these are extra special. They are flavored with finger millet or nachni flour. I have found this flour adds a unique something to the cookies. The next time you make chocolate chip cookies try cutting down the quantity of all purpose flour by adding some finger millet flour instead.

Recipe adapted from here
You will need
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup finger millet (nachni) flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup oil
scant 1/2 cup granulated sugar
scant 1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cups semi sweet chocolate morsels

Preheat oven to 375 F. Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the vanilla extract and egg and beat some more. Beat in the flours a little at a time along with the dry ingredients. Finally fold in the chocolate morsels.

Drop a tablespoon of batter on a greased baking sheet at regular intervals.

Bake for 8-10 minutes. Transfer to a cooking rack.

When completely cool store in an airtight container.
